The Need

In the slum communities surrounding our Foundation in Bangkok, many children grow up in homes scarred by violence, neglect, and instability. Our school provides safety, education, and love during the day, but when the final bell rings and the children walk back through the streets, that safety often disappears.

For some of our students, the night does not bring rest, it brings fear.

Several of our boys return each evening to homes where shouting, threats, and physical violence are common. Some live with adults who are struggling deeply with addiction, poverty, and trauma of their own. Others live with caregivers who want to help them but simply cannot protect them.

Their Stories

One of our students is a brilliant teenager.

At school, he works harder than anyone. His teachers describe him as thoughtful and extremely smart. On the basketball court, he leads his team with confidence. He is starting to dream big dreams; becoming a doctor, or perhaps a lawyer someday.

But when he goes home, everything changes.

His father struggles with illness and addiction. When conflict erupts in their home, this boy often becomes the one standing between violence and the people he loves.

Last week he quietly told us what happened again.

His father had been gambling. When the boy’s elderly grandmother asked what had happened to her money, his father erupted in anger. The shouting escalated, and suddenly the boy found himself doing what he has done many times before… stepping between his father and his grandmother, trying to protect her.

For his courage, he was beaten.

His younger brother lives in the same house.

He is a child with special needs who is easily overwhelmed by noise and chaos.

When violence breaks out in the home, he has his own escape plan.

He runs to the bathroom (which is more of an outhouse).

And in that tiny room, he locks the door, covers his ears, and waits.

Sometimes hours.

Until the shouting stops and the coast is clear.

No child should have to learn survival like that.

Another boy in our school is only six years old.

He often arrives at school with bruises or cuts from harsh punishment. When the adults who are supposed to care for him speak about him, they say things no child should ever hear.

They say he is worthless.

That he is not really a boy.

He is just an animal.

His parents are gone. His grandmother, who once cared for him, is now in prison after killing someone in a violent altercation, while this little boy was in her other arm.

Now he lives with his grandfather, who sees no value in him and cannot understand why anyone would try to teach him.

But at school, we see something very different.

We see a lively little boy who loves to laugh.

A boy who simply needs patience, guidance, and love.

Right now, these three boys urgently need a place where they can sleep without fear.
Where adults mean protection instead of harm.
A place where they can simply be children.

We have already identified at least three more boys in our community who may soon require intervention. As word spreads about the safe home we created for girls, other organisations and even government departments have begun asking if we could provide refuge for boys as well. The need is real.
The need is growing.
And the need is urgent.

Our Vision

The Place of Grace Foundation exists to provide education, stability, and hope for children living in poverty in Bangkok.

Our most pressing need is to establish a safe home for boys who are currently living in abusive or unsafe environments. This home will provide a place where boys can grow in safety and dignity, while continuing their education at our school.

The house will be located in the community surrounding our school, allowing the boys to remain connected to their teachers, friends, and support systems. For their protection, the exact location will be known only to staff and residents.

This home will be able to house up to 10 boys, with a married couple serving as full-time house parents. They are already prepared to step into this role as soon as a house becomes available.

Many of these boys have lived for years in survival mode; constantly alert, fearful, and forced to carry responsibilities no child should have to bear.

The safe house will give them something they have rarely experienced…
the freedom to simply be children again.

It will be a place where they can let down their guard, rediscover joy, and begin rebuilding their lives.

Our Experience

A few years ago, God opened the door for us to create a safe house for girls, and the impact has been truly life-changing. What began as a place of safety and stability has become a home where young women have been loved, nurtured, discipled, and given the opportunity to grow into confident, hopeful, and capable individuals. Their lives have been transformed through consistent care, education, truth, and love.

Now, we believe these young men deserve the same. By creating a boys safe house, we hope to provide a secure and loving environment where they too can heal, grow, and discover the purpose God has for their lives.

Our desire is not only to protect these boys physically, but also to help them experience healing, purpose, and hope for the future.

The Goal

To make this vision a reality, we are seeking to raise 5,000,000 Thai Baht (~$155,000 USD) to purchase a house that will serve as the boys’ safe home.

We have already identified a suitable property in the community near our school.

Our fundraising goal ensures that we will be able to secure the house even if the final purchase price changes.

We are ready to move forward as soon as the funds are available.

The boys who need this home are already part of our school community. The house parents are ready. The vision is clear. Everything is falling into place, and this has never been more necessary than right now.
